WORK WORK EXPERIENCE - BLACKHEATH HIGH SCHOOL (RECEPTION/YEAR1)
I am working in blackheath high school (senior) from ages 3-11 for my two week work experience. I am a classroom assistance. Blackheath high is a girl school.
I've been working with two reception classes and two year1 classes. the kids and the teachers are lovely and its great fun! I had a lot of things to do, like take down display, file the children's work. Nothing difficult;
I did other things like counting with the children up to 100 as they're very small and can hardly count, but for there age i think they're very bright clever children, they are very polite and brainy, its such a well educated school. I also teached them some maths, how to spell and read. Just like any other classroom assistance would do.
The children were making Chinese dragons as it was Chinese new year!

I started by making a little Chinese theme corner, in the room, I started by making a banner saying 'Chinese restraint. welcome!' as we were making a little Chinese restraint for the children to play in! I such there little dragons they designed on the wall, and as the day went on I would add something into the corner. I stuck the Chinese dragons all over the place, little posters post cards, Chinese money, all different things.
At the end it looked like this...

This is the Chinese new year corner..
As you can see its very colourful and you can tell its Chinese themed! Its very sweet for the children to play in they are very excited till its completely finished and they're aloud to play in it! It was lovely to see there faces once it was finished. |
This is the cooker that I decorated for the children to 'pretend' that they're cooking Chinese food, brought in a couple of Chinese menu's for them so it really gives it that Chinese feel!

ADVANTAGES:

disadvantages:
How do i feel about work outside school?I feel that its been a bit to much; I feel drained the time i get home, and i start my Weebly page so my memory don't refresh! I have other homework as well which is linked to work experiences so I get a little confused what i'm writing what for?

Here are some images i've been taking from what we have been doing. I was not aloud to take many pictures but they let me take some of the work we are doing and things i've been doing, and the work thats happening, theses are pictures from year1 and reception.
Activity's.We would take part in decorating things for our Chinese theme, for Chinese new year.
We did some drama, on super hero's. So we'd all choose our self a super hero name for our self and we imagined we was a super hero, also made a little play. We all did yoga, one of the children's parents does yoga for children so we all took part in that, making us all do stretches and act out as if we was the animals she was telling us to be; (an animal which would be in the Amazon rain forest) We was taking part in this thing called 'Braziliant', which means never give up. So we was teaching the children how to skip, and even if they couldn't do it we would keep trying because we wouldn't give up, and the main thing is to have fun! |
change? If I had to change anything whilst doing my work experience I would change my choices of what classes I worked with, I would have much rather worked with nursery children and reception then; reception and year 1. Year 1 was more laid back for me, I did't have much do, I would have just sat down most of the time and chilled, where's in reception I had more to do and i felt more involved with the two classes I was working with.
What I would also like to change is for the 2nd week I would of liked to work somewhere else, doing the same job for two weeks was fun but also felt very distressed and I was mostly doing the same things everyday. But other then that I did enjoy my time at blackheath high school. |
What i enjoyed most? What I enjoyed is that I worked with both reception and year1 classes. So I did a range of different things in each class.
|
what i didnt enjoy?I didn't enjoy working with year. I wanted to work with younger children and year1 was mostly doing work so it didn't give me enough things to do..
