Photograms/Rayograms.
Photograms & rayograms are very similar to a Cyanotype, but instead photograms/Rayograms have to be used in the dark room, the room has to be completely dark with just a tint of light. When you've placed your objects onto the Photographic material, that is when you places a very bright light above it to tan around your object on the photographic material. Leave the light to shine on it for about 10seconds, once that's done you take off the light and remove the objects off of your photographic material.
After you've finished doing that you places it into a developer for at least 5minutes, while after that is when you place the imaged is places into a fixed bath for about 10 minute, then it should clean it up and ready to go. |
Here is a few images of photogram/rayograms that i like.
I like the different shapes, and also the different tones of grey's and blacks being used. |

My first attempt of Photogram.
My first photogram was quite good for the first time, you can clearly see what it is, and the colours came out really well, there is quite a lot of blank spaces in the background but I think it works quite well. It doesn't look to crowed, for my first attempt it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be. I used Cassette tapes and i used some cassette film strips on top just to add a bit of effect.
If I had to improve on this I would have added more objects to the picture. I would use different sized and shaped objects to make them stand out.

My second attempt of photogram.
This was my second attempt of a photogram, I used quite a lot of different objects for it. I really like this because it all looks very clear and the colours look really clear.
I like how some objects are blurred and some look fairly detailed.
I think I could have added more items onto the blank parts as their is just blank black spaces as of the other one. I would say that this image is more of an improvement compared to the other one as its got different objects.
