what is Abstract.Abstract art is art that does not attempt to represent external, recognizable reality but seeks to achieve its effect using shapes, forms, colours, and textures. There is often meaning behind it. Some artists combine more than one picture.
Here is an example. Even though his painting looks like a figure, he uses different shapes and lines to create it. In the end, it doesn't look photorealistic. Instead, it is his representation of a figure. |

Favorite abstraction. These are 7 of my favourite abstractions that I've seen, I like the differen't colours that are being used.
All these are very different. Some seem as if they arnt real, some are taken from real life. These pictures are really interesting because its so curious, and very creative. I like how theres a picture which blends in with the back ground. This links a bit to multiple images. Which was one of my favourite personal project that we have done. |
Here are some examples that I have taken with a camera on my mobile phone. Ive chosen to take pictures of objects or anything which is in the middle of a plain or patterned background. Its quite hard to get the right picture to look good. But Im very pleased with these pictures that I have taken, now all I need to do is to keep adding pictures like this. So there will be a update once in a while.
WHAT ARE CHEMIGRAM?
Chemigram are images which are created without a camera, simply chemicals...
namely developer and fixer. This involves using photosensitive paper. Oils, varnish and other colours can be used on this paper.
PIERRE CORDIER!
Pierre cordier was brought up by a family of Franco-belgain industrialists, that specialises cosmetic products; nail polish?
When he was a young child he had a massive interest in jazz. This magical freedom in jazz is inspiration to his work he makes.
...He was known as the 'father of chemigram'.

This is my photograms that I have made in a group of three. as you can see some of the objects that we have chosen are very hard to see what they are, But some of the objects are very noticeable for example; light bulb, tape recorder, pen.
To improve i would use up the blank spaces with more objects that you wouldn't be able to tell what it was.

ALFRED STIEGLITZ
CLASH!Here is a photo that I have taken of a metal fence which is boarded around the back of our school, I've linked this picture to Kandinsky's work. As when I look at this picture I hear a clash; when metals crash together it makes a clashing sound.
I like this picture because of how it focuses on the two large bits of metal bars, and it starts to fade as it get's further along. To improve I would like to do a video to prove my point, as the wind blows on to it to show how it clashes. |
WISPER!
These pictures remind me of the sound of wispering, this is because when I think of wispering I think of blue sky or leafs flying around in the wind, in the second picture you can see the leaf flying in the wind, this seems as if it links with the first one.. As if its the same leaf? I really like these pictures but to improve I would take more time capturing the right pictures at the right time.
SHUFFLE!
These pictures remind me of some kind of shuffling sound, It reminds me of the jungle as if you was walking in high grass or through bushes or some sort, When grass clash together they make this shuffling sounds. I don't think i've taken very good photos to prove that this goes with a 'shuffling' sound.
To improve I would maybe get some bushes or other plants involved. Shuffle is quite a relaxing sound which I have showed the grass with a sky background.

This is some abstract pictures i've taken of the street of my road. i've based it on light and darkness.
I like these pictures because of the lighting, they are all kind of the same. The colours are mostly black and like a golden colour, I like in the photos that there are colours that stand out; In the 7th picture the green bush stands out. and the past picture theres the white van which also stands out a lot. To improve i would maybe take pictures which are a different as they all kind of look the same.

reflection.
These are my pictures I took at Sutcliffe park, that I took. I based mine on reflection. I chose this idea because I find reflection quite interesting. My pictures went really well because of the lighting, it was the right weather for this kind of experiment because of the shadows being very clear. To improve I would like to put an affect on it.
Here are a couple of images I found of the pictures I have taken at Margate. (not to sure where my other ones are?) I based mine on shadows/reflection and landscape focusing. I liked the two types of ideas because they both are quite interesting ones to focus on. I chose the black and white affect because its quite an emotion kind of colour and as its raining at the beach its quite a sad emotion. Colour wouldn't have gone with the picture, also because the clouds where grey.
MIDNIGHT SHOTS.
Here are some pictures that I have taken at night. I have got my inspiration by Richard Billingham who is a night time photographer. I've chosen to do my work inspired by him because In his pictures he used light and darkness and thats what i really like. I took pictures around
My favourites. This is one of my favourite picture that I have taken, I really like the use of colour and tone thats used. Ive aimed this picture from inspiration from Richard Billingham. I really like how the sides are at same length yet completely different. As one is a wall and the other is a fence with leafs poking through. The use of light went well as there is more light shining on the wall and the ground furthest to the wall rather then the light being focused to the fence.

RICHARD BILLINGHAM
I really like Richards work, I really like the light and the dark shading of pictures and how they contract with each other.
I tired to try out his image idea but it never really worked out very well. He takes pictures any time of the night, just when ever its starting to get dark, as you can see in the pictures by him above it goes in a lightest to darkest sky order. Maybe my text experiment should be to take the same picture at different parts of the night and find out what the best lighting would be.

RUT BLEES LUXEMBURG
Rut would be my next experiment, I would like to try out reflections, maybe through windows or cars or puddles, anything involving reflection.
MIRRORING.
I REALLY like mirroring photos, so I have decided to plan out what I want to do for my final project, I want to use my night pictures and mirror them. Im really like the thought seeing the world flipped round and what it would look like from the other way round. or upside down. It just makes the picture seem so much more interesting I think, makes it a bit different.
Here are some sky pictures that I have taken since the start of summer 2013 till now, Sky pictures are one of my favourite things especially in the early mornings as the sun set is coming up which the sky comes up with a beautiful pink sky. I would like to continue taking morning pictures, as I am an early waker as it is, so when I wake up everyday I will take a couple of pictures a day. (mobile photography)
Here are some pictures I took while I was waiting in Sainsburys car park in Lee Green, I based it on rain and street/car lights, It was mostly just an experiment, as I was bored and thought it was a good idea to test out different night pictures.

Catherine Yass
English Photographer Catherine Yass uses a blue negative effects on her photos which I thought would be very interesting to try out. With the light bits of the photo they will show as blue and the darker parts show as red. I tried it out with a black and white photo, which worked well because the lighting showed out really well, especially with the street lights. I also did one down an ally, It looked really good with the negative effect because of the darkness towards the back of the ally.

These are the pictures that I used for my abstract project, I edited it on photoshop with the blue negative effects just like Catherine Yass did, They worked out pretty well, The lighting which was in the pictures really worked for this effect. Especially the first picture. (Sorry these pictures are not very clear, look in person)
These are the photos that I'm working with, I will choose a couple of pictures out of this and do my final project on unit 1 out of them.
THESE ARE ALL MOBILE PHOTOGRAPHY.
THESE ARE ALL MOBILE PHOTOGRAPHY.
These are the pictures that I chose to use as my final piece, I cropped it into squares and stuck them down on boarding card, It's based on lighting and colouring, I really like them because they are all quite simular in a way, The top right picture was a darker picture but I brightened up the contrast to make it the same colour as the other pictures as it is a lovely picture that I wanted to use but was the odd one out.
ALFRED STIEGLITZ.
This is Alfred Stieglitz work, I based my word on him; I like the ways his picture is linked to the sea and its waves. It's hard to tell what his pictures really are as his pictures are in black and white. I based my pictures on him because the pictures that I have taken, look like waves. I haven't edited the pictures in black and white because my photos are about brightness and colour, so my pictures are linked to waves and colour. His pictures remind me of a storm and waves going everywhere and crashing together, they're very interesting to look at and give you many different ideas about what it could be. It's like two pictures moulded into one.
